Should we add a statistics plot on the first page showing the total, code, comment, and other statistics?

What kind of plot do you mean? Do you suggest we should include an image already generated or that we should generate some new plot?

It is as simple as the total curve from all 4 different stats in one plot. This image does not exist but the information is already available in the accumulated stats.

I am not completely positive. Two reasons:

  • It will be a lot of lines. In BASE project with 7 authors, you'll have 28 curves. This was the reason we have separated the different linetypes into separate pages and thereby separate plots.
  • Second reason is that even if we choose to implement this for the 0.6 release, we soon thereafter have to remove it, because when working towards the 0.7 release we will have even more statistics (#24 #82). Well, ok I admit that this second reason was not a good one, since we could have an image for each statistics type.

Obviously I am less clear than normally. I meant only the total statistics not for every developer. This will only give four curves displaying the fraction of code, comments, and others.

Milestone: 0.6

Allright. This should be doable within milestone:0.6.

We need to add a function in Stats that could look something like

void plot(const std::string& output_filename) const;

and this function will have loads in common with the already existing

std::string plot(const std::string&, const std::string&) const;

so we should split the code into sub-functions.
