APR and GSL come with apr-config and gsl-config, respectively.

There is a macro availabe at ​http://autoconf-archive.cryp.to/ac_create_generic_config.html

Related to this is that today many libraries are shipped with a *.pc file, which is used by pkg-config.

There is an autoconf macro to create this *.pc file ​http://autoconf-archive.cryp.to/ax_create_pkgconfig_info.html

yat-config script was added in [1348]
